/01   THE BRIEF

Every "AI receptionist" on the market needs a number ported, a VoIP account provisioned, and a developer to wire it up. Salpre wanted the opposite: a consumer-grade product that takes any cell phone and makes it AI-powered in under thirty minutes.

We co-engineered the hardware (the SALPRE Box — Bluetooth, 6–10 h battery, palm-sized) with a manufacturing partner; built the iOS app, the developer dashboard, the realtime ASR/TTS pipeline, and the public API. Webhooks fire on call_initiated, transcript, and call_ended so customers can wire conversations into any CRM.

/02   THE APPROACH

We led with the seam most AI products skip — the physical handoff between the AI and the real-world phone network.

The orchestrator on the iOS app pairs with the Box over Bluetooth Low Energy, receives the audio stream from the SIM-attached phone, streams it to the realtime ASR/TTS service, and pipes the agent's voice back through the same audio path. The carrier sees a normal call; the customer sees a fluid AI conversation.

Every component — Box firmware, mobile app, web dashboard, API — was built by a four-person pod end-to-end. We co-owned the spec with the founders for nine months from prototype to App Store ship.
